New Microsoft research, <a href=\"https:\/\/aka.ms\/Preparing_Students_for_the_Future_of_Work\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Preparing Students for the Future of Work<\/a>, finds that roughly 70% of the skills used in most jobs are expected to change by 2030, AI literacy now appears in job listings around six times more often than a year ago, and 66% of leaders say they wouldn\u2019t hire someone without AI skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\n  For educators, it&#8217;s an opportunity to further shape the future.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\n  Success in education has always depended on the interplay of knowledge, aptitudes, and skills. Skilling is the capability that turns new technology into confident, trusted practice. The question isn\u2019t whether to prepare students for an AI-shaped world. It\u2019s how to do it in a way that keeps human flourishing, not just employability, at the center.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-a89b3969 wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/aka.ms\/Preparing_Students_for_the_Future_of_Work\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Preparing students for the future of work<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\n  Work is changing. People are not.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This line, drawn from the report\u2019s conclusion, is worth holding onto. Technologies will keep shifting. What endures is distinctly human: curiosity, judgment, the capacity to learn and relearn, and the wisdom to apply knowledge well. The OECD makes the same case in its 2025 framework, <em>Education for Human Flourishing<\/em>, which argues that education should help every learner live \u201ca life they have reason to value,\u201d moving beyond a narrow human-capital view of schooling.<sup>1<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Together, the reports point to a consistent pattern: today\u2019s labor market increasingly rewards people who can apply their intelligence and adapt to context and continue learning. It centers on <strong>acting in the world<\/strong> with the agency to shape one\u2019s life and contribute to others. This is supported by four competencies:\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\">Adaptive problem-solving  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\">Ethical competence  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\">Understanding the world  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\">Appreciating the world  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The overlap is striking. \u201cContext engineering\u201d and the \u201cagent boss\u201d mindset are adaptive problem-solving in a new medium. \u201cJudgment and the human standard\u201d is ethical competence made practical.
