Brian Jones posts

Brian began his career at Microsoft in 1999 as a program manager on the Word team, where he played a pivotal role in developing the Open XML file formats for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. In 2009, he launched a new team dedicated to Office extensibility, delivering the Office add-in model, Office Store, and new extensibility models for SharePoint, including workflow and early iterations of the Office Graph. By 2014, he was leading the Access team and initiated the Office Forms team to explore innovative data collection methods. In 2016, he led the Excel product team, spearheading advancements in multi-user collaboration and cross-platform functionality across Mac, web, and mobile. In 2022, he formed a new product team focused on growing Microsoft 365 in the SMB segment, delivering tools like Lighthouse and enhancing acquisition and management experiences tailored to small and medium businesses. In 2025, Brian returned to the Office Product Group as Vice President of the Excel Product Group, overseeing Excel, Forms, and Office Platforms.
