It’s a big day for all of us on the Windows Server team as we welcome a new member to the family, Windows Server 2008 Foundation

Available through Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) partners as a pre-installed solution, Windows Server 2008 Foundation will provide first-time server users or small business customers the ability to run business applications and databases, host websites and provide basic server functionality such as file and print sharing and remote access.

Windows Server 2008 Foundation will offer the same reliability, security and manageability of the Windows Server platform within the reach of businesses with 15 or fewer users at an affordable, entry-level price.

As Bob Muglia mentioned on Monday in a feature story , there are a number of ways businesses of all sizes can control IT costs and Windows Server 2008 Foundation modest cost will make it possible for businesses to grow, innovate and stay competitive in a globally diverse marketplace which in turn can ignite growth for their local economies.

As Microsoft continues our commitment to small businesses, through September 2009, a portion of all Windows Server 2008 Foundation sales will be donated to Techsoup.org and Telecentre.org two organizations focused on bringing the power of technology around the world.
