Debjit Paul

Debjit Paul is a Senior Researcher at Microsoft Research India, working on information retrieval, reasoning, and the use of synthetic data to train and evaluate AI systems. His research focuses on building scalable pipelines for data generation, improving retrieval models, and enabling systems that can reason over large, heterogeneous knowledge sources.

Prior to joining Microsoft Research, Debjit was a Research Scientist at Huawei Noah’s Ark Lab in London and a Postdoctoral Researcher at EPFL (opens in new tab). He completed his Ph.D. at Heidelberg University under the supervision of Prof. Anette Frank (opens in new tab). His work has been published in leading NLP and machine learning venues, and he received an Outstanding Paper Award at NAACL 2025 for his contributions to improving logical reasoning in language models.
