About

I am a Senior Principal Researcher in the Data Systems group at Microsoft Research. My research interests broadly span data management and big data analytics systems, with a particular focus on leveraging emerging hardware capabilities, including new instruction sets, storage technologies, and accelerators such as GPUs, to improve the performance and efficiency of data systems. My research has been commercialized and is used across several Microsoft products and services, including Azure Storage (opens in new tab), Azure Synapse Analytics (opens in new tab), Microsoft Fabric, Cosmos, SQL Server, and so on. Before joining Microsoft Research, I received my Ph.D. in Computer Sciences from the database systems group (opens in new tab) at University of Wisconsin-Madison (opens in new tab).
